Windows Phone 7.5 - 'Mango' Update

The new Mango update for windows phone 7 brings many new features to it that Micorsoft missed in its first release. You can see those features in the video below:

Assalam o alaikum, can you tell me what's the basic purpose of "Sileverlight" software?? I mean for what major purpose it is meant to design??
