Windows Phone 7 Emulator - Finally Unlocked

When the Windows Phone 7 emulator newly got released, I had unlocked it on my previous computer but then my computer's hard disk crashed and then I was unable to unlock it in my laptop. Now finally after 4 months of googleing, I unlocked the emulator and I works better than before because I have a very good GPU.

I personally believe that nothing is of use until we share it to others so today I will tell you guys how to unlock the emulator.

So the question is that what does unlocking means? I just means to unlock all of the features of the emulator just for the sake of exploring. Microsoft originally shipped the emulator with just internet explorer for windows phone 7. All other features were locked.

How to unlock:
1.  After installing the Developer Tools, download the unlocked ROM image or the .bin file from here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19237455/WM70C1.en-US.bin
2. Copy the downloaded ROM image to 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows Phone\v7.0\Emulation\Images' (Do not forget to back up the original ROM image)
3. Enjoy :)

Nokia and Microsoft - Future of Windows Phone 7

The news of Nokia doing partnership with Microsoft is spreading everywhere. The CEO of Nokia also stated in their live press conference that Nokia's 'primary focus' is now going to be on Windows Phone 7.
Under this strategic partnership:
  • Nokia would adopt Windows Phone as its principal smartphone strategy, innovating on top of the platform in areas such as imaging, where Nokia is a market leader.
  • Nokia would help drive the future of Windows Phone. Nokia would contribute its expertise on hardware design, language support, and help bring Windows Phone to a larger range of price points, market segments and geographies.
  • Nokia and Microsoft would closely collaborate on joint marketing initiatives and a shared development roadmap to align on the future evolution of mobile products.
  • Bing power Nokia’s search services across Nokia devices and services, giving customers access to Bing’s next generation search capabilities. Microsoft adCenter would provide search advertising services on Nokia’s line of devices and services.
  • Nokia Maps would be a core part of Microsoft’s mapping services. For example, Maps would be integrated with Microsoft’s Bing search engine and adCenter advertising platform to form a unique local search and advertising experience
  • Nokia’s extensive operator billing agreements would make it easier for consumers to purchase Nokia Windows Phone services in countries where credit-card use is low.
  • Microsoft development tools would be used to create applications to run on Nokia Windows Phone, allowing developers to easily leverage the ecosystem’s global reach.
  • Nokia’s content and application store would be integrated with Marketplace for a more compelling consumer experience.

These phones look really awesome and stylish but no one knows the exact price of it once it will be launched.
One more thing that I would like to mention that the workers of Nokia did not like the partnership. They reacted by marching out of Nokia's facilities. Over half of 3000 workers walked out.

This means that now Nokia will not exclusively work on Windows Phone 7.
